What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a state of consciousness that you can naturally enter so that beneficial changes may be offered directly to the subconscious mind. It is a relaxed and comfortable state during which therapeutic ideas can be introduced to persons of all ages (including children from about 8 years old and upwards). Lasting changes to unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviour can be achieved by the skillful use of hypnotherapy.
The unconscious mind plays a very important role in our daily lives. It is responsible not only for the autonomic bodily functions such as blood circulation and breathing, but also for our emotions, feelings and habits. It therefore directs a large part of our behaviour. Our past experiences and memories are all stored away there, and the automatic thought patterns that are generated there enable us to effortlessly cope with the huge number of stimuli we meet in our daily lives. We simply could not function without this marvellous asset.
However, if any of these thought patterns are unwanted, they are very difficult to change because the subconscious mind is not normally accessible to us. Faulty ideas taken on board by the subconscious in earlier life can result, for example, in poor confidence or phobic levels of anxiety in later life. Hypnosis allows you to access your subconscious mind and make changes that would be very hard to do with therapies carried out at the conscious level.
I adapt each session of hypnotherapy to suit your needs at that particular time. Each person has their own unique thought process and experience of life, and so I develop the therapy to cater to your personal circumstances.
Sometimes one session is all that is required, whereas with more deep-rooted issues the therapy may be spread over a course of several sessions.
