What is Jealousy?
Jealousy is a natural emotion that we have all experienced at times when we feel a relationship that is very important to us is threatened. It can be viewed as a type of anxiety associated with insecurity in a relationship. However when it becomes all-consuming and irrational it places a terrible toll on the person and on the relationship.
Jealousy and insecurity are complex, involving many emotions such as anger, sadness, blame and fear of rejection often leading to humiliating associated behaviours. The emotion is so powerful the person may find they simply cannot get it out of their mind. They may check up on their partner, constantly question them, always suspecting the worst, seeking reassurance. The partner may in turn keep innocent things from them to prevent the jealousy erupting, eroding honesty in the relationship and increasing mistrust.
Getting Back in Control
It can be difficult to make the step to seek help external to the relationship, but the advantage of using hypnotherapy is that it tackles the negative thought patterns and emotions which are impacting on your relationship where they arise - in the subconscious mind. I will be careful to understand the pattern of your feelings and the situations that trigger you to feel this way so that the hypnotherapy can be as effective as possible.
Hypnotherapy is a state of deep relaxation during which beneficial changes can be made to feelings emanating from the subconscious mind. Thinking patterns and behaviour can be changed. The cycle of negative thoughts magnifying the jealousy can be replaced with positive thoughts enhancing confidence, self worth and trust. Others sense this high self esteem and react more positively to you, further enhancing your feelings so that jealousy is no longer triggered.
Issues causing jealousy in the relationship can be addressed, and also mistrust and hurt from previous relationships. Trust will be built by promoting open and honest communication between you and your partner.
The sessions will be tailored to your individual needs to ensure the best possible outcome, but in general I expect jealousy to be resolved in between 3 and 6 sessions.
